• FRISIAN KINGDOM: Radbod I (Redbad I), 680-719
• There remain several legends about this famous king. In one Redbad converted to christianity. When he was about to be baptised, he ask the priest, if he would meet his ancestors. The priest said: "No, they are all in hell, but you will be going to heaven." Redbad concluded; "Better to be in hell with my family, than to be alone in heaven." and the king refused to be baptised and followed the pagan tradition.
